Gas safety

Gas servicing is essential to ensure the boilers and fires in your home are safe to use and are operating efficiently

We are required by law to carry out gas safety checks on your boilers and fires annually and they must be carried out within 12 months of the previous service.

Why gas safety checks are important

The gas safety checks make sure your appliances are safe to use as faulty or unsafe gas appliances can cause carbon monoxide poisoning.

They are carried out by contractor, C~urb, who will contact you in advance to arrange a suitable time for the service to be carried out. Please ensure that someone over the age of 16 is at home otherwise our contractor will be unable to carry out the work and will have to return at a later date.

It’s vital you allow access C~urb to carry out the gas safety inspection so you don’t put yourself and your family at risk.

Should you fail to give access to your home we will, under section 5.2 of your Tenancy Agreement, force access to your home and cap your gas supply. This is a legal obligation that Horizon must follow. Any costs associated with this including damage to your door and the costs of uncapping your gas supply at a later date will be recharged to you.

Reporting gas repairs

Tenants can report all issues relating to gas, heating or hot water by calling us on  0330 303 0089  and selecting option 1, using the app for non-emergency gas repairs or submitting via the Horizon website.
