Housing options for disabled people
We work to increase the availability of housing for people with disabilities through effective allocation of our properties, adapting properties to meet particular needs and by maximising design for our new homes.
We work with a number of partners to offer more housing choice, flexibility and control to disabled people and their families.
Approximately 25% of our properties are fully accessible. Although our wheelchair standard properties are advertised through choice-based letting systems, like our general needs properties, we also operate a lettings plan to ensure that applicants circumstances are fully taken in to account and in order makes best use of these properties.
Blackwood Homes
Blackwood homes provides a range of accessible homes for rent throughout Scotland for people with disabilities as well as general needs. To find out what is available and how to apply visit their website.
Home2Fit
We support the Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living’s development of Home2Fit, a national online database and self-help resource to assist disabled people to find suitable housing.
It allows disabled people to search and match what they want with what's available and make contact with housing providers who have accessible homes in their area of choice.
Access ownership
Horizon, Housing Options Scotland and Link developed a shared ownership scheme called Access Ownership to help disabled people own a home which meets their needs.
Demand for the programme is growing and Horizon plans to secure additional investment to be able to meet the needs of a greater number of disabled people, if you would like more information please contact us.
Open Market Shared Equity
Link Group Ltd manages the Scottish Government's Open Market Shared Equity scheme which helps people on low to moderate incomes who want to buy a home but are unable to meet the full price.
One of the priority groups for this scheme are people with a disability whose current home no longer meets their housing needs.

Adapting your home
We have a commitment to adapting homes so a greater number of disabled and older people can remain in their homes or become independent in their community. If you are a Horizon tenant we may be able to arrange to have your property adapted to meet your needs.
