NEW BUILD HOUSING ACTIVITY
Horizon continues to pursue new development opportunities in Central Scotland with the overall aim of increasing the supply of affordable housing, particularly fully wheelchair accessible accommodation.
We are an active part of the West Lothian Strategic Alliance and provide Clerk of Works services to the lead developer, Almond Housing Association. Horizon will provide eighht fully accessible wheelchair properties through the Blackburn Academy site which is due for completion by Autumn 2009. There are also a number of pipeline projects at Beatlie School, Stoneyburn, Boghall and Craigshill, Livingston which will provide an additional 18 units for Horizon.
Our partnership project with Maryhill Housing Association at Ruchill, Glasgow is due to go on site shortly and Horizon will provide nine properties through this project, five of which will be fully wheelchair accessible.
The new build project at McTaggart Avenue, Denny is awaiting approval from the Scottish Government and if successful in securing funding, will provide 10 new homes, two of which will be fully wheelchair accessible. It is hoped that a site start can be achieved on this project late summer 2009.
We have purchased a site at Myreside Street in the Carntyne area of Glasgow and hope to go on site around November 2009 providing a total of 54 new homes for rent.
We continue to explore the feasibility of developing the site in Harthill, North Lanarkshire. At the moment it is envisaged that around 25 new homes can be provided for both older people and people requiring the use of a wheelchair. Our project at Keltyhill Road, Kelty is also at feasibility stage.
